What is OR4.0 project?

OR4.0 is a software tool that takes the information provided by the RTLS network in order to run any surgical process in an adaptable workflow software platform. This tool provides specific digital applications for all the different players participating in the surgical process, which includes OR managers, anaesthesiologists, nurses in the pre- and post-operative phase, surgeons, perioperative nurses, porters, the cleaning team and also patients relatives waiting for the result of the surgery.


The tool is built on different applications for each participant in order to orchestrate the whole process and enhance the coordination and exchange of information between them. Asynchronous communication functions will be provided to notify any event (e.g. OR clean and ready, patient ready). OR managers will have specific functions to automatic schedule and control operation rooms performance.


The daily data generated by the different players and patients in the surgical process is analysed by using cutting edge data analytics and process mining techniques. This allows users to identify bottlenecks, to predict operation times, to automatically schedule operations and to eventually provide intelligent decision support during the process for OR managers.
